came jus before 9pm but wouldn't let us sit down due to restaurant being slow and they want to close early, eh ok. and the ajuma was hurrying us to make an order :/ we jus quickly decided to order combo 8 which was crab and 1 uni rice thingie plus galbi jimm bc she said kitchen not available for other stuff okayyyyy. so we got it to go. crab was good and spicy but galbi jimm was tough and very mid - altho i know they're not known for their meat dishes. my highlight def was uni bowl tho!! can eat like 5 of those myself lol. oh, also it would be nice if they provided us some disposable gloves for the crabs!
Amazing seafood and an LA staple! Crab House is widely know for their Korean Raw Marinated Crabs and they sure don't disappoint on it. The crab is always so fresh and soaking in their sauce. They have either soy or spicy and a range of size options to choose from depending on how big your party is or how hungry you are! They also have many other unique seafood dishes such as their unique bowl, monk fish stir fry, and seafood stew, which are all very delicious as well! Like every Korean restaurant, every very order comes with a hand full of banchans.I been here a handful of times and a good amount of those times the workers would be so kind and give a random dish for free, and they wouldn't just give it to us, they would pass it out to everyone! The workers are always so kind every time you walk in. It always feels like you're welcomed with tender loving Korean care. They will always check on your table, even the cooks in the back would check. Food and drinks is always brought out very fast, and they're always there when you need anything. This place is a hole in the wall kind of vibe. Not in a dirty sense, but more of a not too decorated, not too big, and not the most modern. Overall still very clean restaurant. It doesn't have much tables, but they tables they do have can hold big parties. I will advise to carpool because the parking lot isn't the biggest and it shares with other restaurants. This place is very popular in LA so don't underestimate the wait during peak hours.
Was so delicious! Some the the best seafood and big portions. Staff was super helpful and friendly.
Second time here, food is just as good as I remember from a few years ago. Parking is pretty tight, and interior is a no-frills small shop. We got the combo (2 soy marinated crab + XS uni), 1 L uni, and a soy crab rice bowl. Staff is pretty hostile/dismissive in attitude (as a Chinese customer) (i.e. no cups were given for the tea even after we had finished placing order until we had to ask, while other Korean speaking parties seemed to receive super fast service), which I remember from the last time I was here as well. At one point, to make space on the table, one of the waitresses directly bent over our table to use her hands to move my (designer) bag from one corner of the table to another to make space for an incoming dish, which I was really shocked by, this was the first time a staff at a restaurant has actually touched my bag/belongings with their hands before. L size uni is quite a bit more in price than XS, but tbh looks almost the same size, just a smidge bigger, see pic for reference. Staff also had to double confirm amongst themselves which was L vs XS, so highly rec just going with XS if ordering individually.
A great place for Korean raw crab. I rarely had one because they need to be fresh for me not to have stomach ache. (This place is great, I didn't feel anything after eating.) All you do is mix everything together and eat. The fancy uni rice bowl is also worth a try. I liked it the most actually. The owner barely spoke any English. We had trouble communicating but there was a fun y moment. She asked me if I was Korean or Chinese. I said I was Thai and she pointed me to Lisa Blackpink's signature and said "Oh Thai! Lisa! Lisa has been here!". Parking is $3 valet only. I don't know if the price is always the same though because I went at weekday lunchtime.
Holy CRAB, I'm so glad I got to finally try @ktowncrabhouse ! This little hole in the wall mom and pop restaurant is beloved by even Blackpink's Lisa, and is 100% worth the hype around their famous raw marinated crab. My must order dish is their Korean soy marinated crab, which is literally so incredibly fresh, and pairs perfectly with the build-you-own rice bowl that they give you. I also LOVED the Uni bowl, which come with super huge and fresh Uni pieces, rice and roe. Their spicy seafood stew is also loaded with crab, shrimp, and fish, and is definitely a good option if you're not craving raw seafood. Service wasn't the most attentive or friendly at times, but that's how you know this spot focuses on authentic, high quality Korean food. There's also $4 parking, although valet leaves if you come after 8 PM. Featured here: Korean soy marinated crab uni bowl spicy seafood stew
I had saved this spot when I first saw it on instagram last year and knew I had to check it out when I visit LA. I finally made it and it did not disappoint. Came around 5pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. I pulled up into the parking lot and to park there it was $4 valet. I didn't feel like driving around looking for parking so didn't mind the valet. If you're just picking for to go then parking is free temporarily. I ordered the crab combo with the extra small uni rice bowl. Banchan came out while I was waiting and it wasn't anything extraordinary but still pleasant to munch on. The star of the show was the crab and omg it just MELTS in my mouth. They give you a little bowl with toppings and I didn't know what it was at first. The older worker lady came and told me to put the crab in and put some rice in to get the perfect bite. She even went to go get me more toppings because I was eating it mindlessly earlier lol. Uni rice bowl was delicious and seafood tofu soup was boiling hot (a little spicy) and perfect to complement the meal. Highly recommend!!!
Crab House is a super solid spot for first timers looking to try raw marinated crab or uni rice. This is a popular spot among older Korean ahjummas and ahjussis to hang out. The wait times can get pretty gnarly during peak business hours, but on a Sunday afternoon this is the perfect spot to bring a small group after church. I highly recommend the uni bap if you've never tried it. The rice, quail egg, seaweed salad and masago are served in the uni shell with the fresh uni still clinging to the walls of the sea urchin. This is actually so mind blowing if you've never had sea urchin like this. It's totally different from having it at a sushi restaurant! Not a good spot for big groups, but a great place to bring a group of 4. My only gripe is that after waiting for about 30 minutes with a friend who only wanted to try the uni rice, we were asked to just order to go and eat it on the bench outside since we weren't going to order much. That's just Korean business owners for you.
A small establishment in ktown known for their raw marinated crabs. We came around 5 on a Saturday but didn't have any trouble parking ($4 in the plaza) and got seated right away. Definitely got more crowded as the night went on. Although any parties that were waiting were able to put in their order right away so it was ready by the time they sat down. We ordered the soy crab and uni combo as well a few other dishes. The soy crab and uni dishes were smaller than I expected but I will say that they tasted delicious. The other dishes we ordered were also amazing. We got a small order of bossam but that was actually more than I expected. The soondubu jjigae was some of the best I've ever had. I'm still craving it! They serve boricha to drink along with your meal. Overall had an absolutely amazing dinner here! Definitely left feeling full and satisfied!
A lot of hype around this place however it does deliver. It's not easy to find raw soy marinated crab in OC so I was willing to venture out. Parking situation is typical for LA (very small lot with valet or street parking). Valet was a few dollars, cash only. I went on a weekday for lunch so it was not crowded. I can imagine it would be madness on a weekend since the lot is so tiny and it's on a busy street. Despite it being a weekday, the restaurant was still full, however the wait was only 10 minutes. Once seated, service is fast and to the point. The restaurant is pretty small inside with. They even gave me a salmon head on the house, which I appreciated. I wanted to order the combo with the uni bowl and raw soy marinated crab however they said the combo was unavailable. But I was able to get the crab and uni bowl separately. The small uni bowl, while definitely aesthetic and fresh, didn't really impress me as much as I thought it would for the price. It was $24.99 for the small size. The uni itself was okay, but the rest of the bowl was underwhelming and lacked flavor for me. I also got the USA raw soy marinated crab, which comes with three pieces at $29.99. It was plenty of food for one person. The crab itself had plenty of roe and the sauce marinade has a slight cinnamon taste to it. I liked the addition of the seafood and faux crab to mix with the rice. I also found the banchan to be filling and delicious. Overall, would return.
